Wisconsin Bar Exam Format
Wisconsin is a Uniform Bar Exam (UBE) jurisdiction. All UBE jurisdictions use the same 3 sections:

Multistate Bar Exam (MBE)

200 multiple choice

Multistate Essay Exam (MEE)

6 essays
^

Multistate Performance Test (MPT)

2 writing assignments
Note: Starting in July 2026, Wisconsin will administer the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE), eliminating the previous Wisconsin essay portion of the bar exam.

Wisconsin Bar Exam Dates

July 2026 exam: July 28-29, 2026

Feb. 2027 exam: Feb. 23-24, 2027

*The Wisconsin Bar Exam takes place on the last Tuesday & Wednesday of February and July.

Minimum Passing Score

For Wisconsin, the UBE minimum passing score is 260.

Jurisdiction-Specific Component

YES
Before being admitted to the practice of law in Wisconsin by UBE examination or by transferred UBE score, an applicant must successfully complete 21 hours of the Wisconsin law and practice educational component. The Wisconsin law and practice educational component must be completed no later than 12 months after receiving notification of a passing UBE score or within 12 months of filing an application for admission via an eligible UBE transfer score.

This jurisdiction-specific component is given separately from the bar exam.
